On Thursday, Browns left tackle Joe Thomas spoke frankly about his former teammate, running back Peyton Hillis, who went from the unofficial face of the organization and Madden cover dude to "that unstable guy who was distracted by that new contract he was angling for."
"I think it was better for both sides [that he left]," Thomas said. "At that point, the situation with him here was toxic, and he didn't want to be here and players didn't want him here. It was better for a fresh start at that point."
A day later, Hillis was apprised of Thomas' remarks and was kind enough to offer a response.
Funny stuff just now from Peyton Hillis. Laughed at Joe Thomas' comments, saying Thomas is 'like a crazy ex-girlfriend.'

More Hillis on Thomas: "It's been over a year. Get over it. I guess when you get paid over 100 million dollars by one team . . .

Hillis continued: "it's kind of easy to point the finger at other guys and try to hate on them for trying to get another contract.''

So that happened, which makes Sunday's matchup between the four-win Browns and the two-win Chiefs infinitesimally more interesting.
