Colin Kaepernick looking to trademark 'Kaepernicking'

By Josh Katzowitz | NFL Writer

In much the same way Tim Tebow indirectly invented Tebowing and Robert Griffin III indirectly invented Griffining, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has started a new trend called Kaepernicking, otherwise known as kissing your bicep after a touchdown.

And in much the same way Tebow trademarked Tebowing, Kaepernick is trying to do the same with his touchdown celebration. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Kaepernick has applied to the US Patent and Trademark Office for a trademark.

Via ESPN's Darren Rovell, Kaepernick's representatives applied for the trademark on Jan. 14, and according to a trademark attorney named Erik Pelton, Kaepernick actually applied for six trademarks.

Apparently, Kaepernick isn't done yet.

Rovell writes: “Kaepernick's marketing agent, Shawn Smith of X-A-M Sports, told ESPN.com that her team intends to file other trademarks on her client's behalf.”
