SNL captures Ray Lewis and his tears
Ray Lewis has been a scary man on the field for most of his career. But as the Ravens went into the playoffs and the Baltimore linebacker's career was nearly over, the world got to see just how emotional he can be.
Before games, during the national anthem, after games, or while doing his squirrel dance, Lewis hasn't been afraid to show that big, strong men sometimes cry.
Thus, the basis for Kenan Thompson's portrayal of Lewis on the latest Saturday Night Live, where a single question from Weekend Update host Seth Meyers caused Lewis to break down and weep because he's so damn thankful to be where he is.
Meyers commented on Lewis' tears during the national anthem before the AFC title game, and Thompson remarked in character, “It's just … that I've never heard that song before.” Meyers seemed confused by that comment, and Thompson as Lewis explained that he always wears earplugs during games to “block out the sounds of my own screams.”
Anyway, it's not an SNL masterpiece or anything -- though I personally enjoy the comedy stylings of Kenan Thompson -- but if you have three minutes to spare, it's worth a look.
