Cam Newton likely to be fined by NFL for bumping official

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton is likely to receive a substantial fine for initiating contact with an official during Sunday's win over the Oakland Raiders.

Newton has had an excellent second half of the season, rallying Carolina to a 4-2 run, but his emotions remain under scrutiny, and Sunday he made contact with an official, which the NFL is reviewing, according to a league source.

The incident will be reviewed for "physical abuse of an official," and is very likely to be punished via fine. Newton was not ejected for his actions and later apologized. There is no concern about a suspension for this incident.
