Sources: New Jags GM high on Roman for coach
With the Jaguars firing coach Mike Mularkey as expected, as we have noted for quite some time, 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman becomes a top target for that job.
League sources said new Jags GM Dave Caldwell is very high on Roman and they have been close since playing college football together at John Carroll.
Caldwell will bring Chris Polian, son of Bill Polian, to serve in a personnel director role, sources said. Other possible coaching candidates include Eagles defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fagio, Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden and Denver offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, sources said. But Roman is expected by many to land the job.
