Rod Marinelli likely out as Bears defensive coordinator

Rod Marinelli is likely out as Bears defensive coordinator, according to league sources

Marinelli, who has a very close relationship with fired Bears coach Lovie Smith, is being recruited by new coach Marc Trestman to stay on board. But to this point, that has been unsuccessful and he is expected to leave the team shortly.

Trestman is in the process of putting together a new staff that includes several of the other men who interviewed for the head coaching position (former Bears linebacker Mike Singletary, the former coach in San Francisco, might also end up joining this staff, sources said): Marinelli would be a natural fit as the linebackers coach in Dallas under new coordinator Monte Kiffin, whom he has worked with before.
