Chargers hire Whisenhunt as new offensive coordinator

UPDATE, 2:35 P.M.: CBSSports.com's Clark Judge reports that Ken Whisenhunt has accepted the job as Chargers offensive coordinator.

The Chargers are very interested in Ken Whisenhunt for their offensive coordinator position, according to league sources.

Whisenhunt, former head coach in Arizona, was strongly considered for several head-coaching jobs and also spoke to the Broncos about their vacant coordinator position.

Now there is a good chance that Whisenhunt ends up joining departed Denver coordinator Mike McCoy in San Diego, where McCoy is now head coach.
