Gregg Williams' NFL reinstatement announcement expected this week

The NFL is expected to announce the reinstatement of Gregg Williams, suspended after his role in the Saints's "bounty" scandal, this week.

Williams, who was the Saints' defensive coordinator before being suspended for the 2012 season as part of the NFL's bounty investigation, has already finalized a contract with the Titans to be their associate head coach-defense, and he has had contact with the league regarding his reinstatement, sources said.

The NFL has yet to announce his reinstatement, but everything is in motion for that to be formalized in the very near future, sources said. The NFL declined to comment on whether Williams already had his formal reinstatement meeting with commissioner Roger Goodell, other than to say that they have nothing to announce at this point.

Williams spent the bulk of his career in the Titans organization and was a longtime defensive coordinator for the team, where he worked alongside current head coach Mike Munchak. Williams also has a strong relationship with Titans defensive coordinator Jerry Gray, who played for Williams and has worked under him in Buffalo and Washington.
