It's no shock Terrell Owens was cut by Seattle. It's remotely possible the Seahawks will re-sign Owens at a later time but that seems unlikely since Owens was his own worst enemy -- the case here and many times before.

There was no question Owens was a pain in the side of the Seahawks even for the short time he was there.

He complained to coaches and others about his lack of playing time and targets, a league source said. And it wasn't just a few complaints, the source said. That would not be atypical of Owens. That's been his way most of his career.

It's unclear what will happen with Owens now. Some team may take another chance, but after speaking with some league executives the belief is that Owens' career is likely over. No one knows for sure.

But what team will want to take a chance on an aging guy who still complains about not getting looks?

If you combine the recent release of Chad Johnson (cut by the Dolphins) after being accused of physically assaulting his wife and facing the end of his NFL career with Owens facing the finality of his, this is a remarkable turn.

Owens and Johnson were two of the best of their generation, particularly Owens. He started 201 of 219 games and has an astounding 153 touchdowns, the second most in league history.

You may not like Owens but he's a Hall of Famer and was once one of the most dangerous players -- not only receivers -- but players the league has ever seen.

Johnson was almost as good. He was at times a clown but his athletic skills made him, like Owens, a dangerous threat who could instantly transform a football game.

Now they're gone. Two of three receiving amigos from their generation are gone -- very unceremoniously.

Since bad news comes in threes, Randy Moss had better watch his back.
