The exit of OG Chris Kemoeatu wasn't unexpected due to his chronic knee – his agent told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazettethat Kemoeatu had arthoscopic surgery after the season – and penalty-riddled play. His $2.4 million salary cap hit, plus Aaron Smith's $2.1 million and Hines Ward 's $3.37 million put the Steelers roughly $8 million under the cap.
