More blinding than an eclipse: The socks of Denver's Von Miller
Just when the retinas of sports fans had finally healed from the blinding looks of Louisville and Baylor uniforms in the NCAA men's basketball tournament, you have Broncos linebacker Von Miller reminding onlookers that the bright colors are still at the apex of sports fashion.
During Sunday's practice, Miller practiced in blinding yellow socks that matched nothing on his orange-and-blue uniform. Monday, he switched to orange -- which at least came close to matching his practice jersey.
"Just trying to lighten it up," said Miller. "I've got some fluorescent yellows and fluorescent oranges. I've got some other colors too."
It's a bright touch but one Miller knows he can't carry to the regular season, sparing TV viewers a trip to the opthamologist. It will also save him from the wrath of the league office, although he expects to hear from it anyway for brandishing the bright colors in practice.
"I try to keep it on the low, but with these socks, I'll probably be getting a letter [from the league] here," he said.
