Redskins LB Brian Orakpo calls Trent Williams a top-three LT
No defensive player in the NFL knows Trent Williams like teammate Brian Orakpo. The two have battled one another the past three summers in training camp. Williams says Orakpo is a changed player. Orakpo gives that compliment right back to him.
Orakpo said Williams is a top-three offensive tackle and compares him to Philadelphia's injured Jason Peters.
In practice, Williams has controlled the edge against all rushers. Orakpo has beaten him a couple of times, typically on an inside move (once on a spin move). But Orakpo is impressed with Williams, who reported in excellent shape.
“He's playing at an elite level,” Orakpo said. “I told him he's top three in the league for sure right now. … [It's] his footwork, his ability. He's very athletic. And he's very strong at the point. If you think about running around the edge on him, it's impossible because he's very athletic and he's very strong.”
