Denver: RB Ronnie Hillman is Peyton Manning's newest pupil
When most of the Broncos worked on special-teams drills during practice, rookie RB Ronnie Hillman ran to the end of one field, where just one teammate was waiting: QB Peyton Manning.
Hillman, who recently returned from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for the first two preseason games, worked on routes with the four-time MVP.
During Tuesday's session, Manning counseled the third-round pick on the proper way to run fade routes, offering tips with each route and throw. By the end of their time together, Hillman went from bobbling passes to catching them cleanly.
"You're like, 'Oh man, I have to do this right,'" Hillman said. "But once you get going, that's the last thing on your mind."
Although there is interplay between the two, Hillman admits the instruction is one-way.
"It's pretty much, he tells you what to do and you do it," Hillman said. "Fans have read about it. He's just like, 'This is what I want.' And that's what you give him."
