Jets WRs Santonio Holmes and Jeremy Kerley set to return

It looks like the Jets will finally get two of their starting wide receivers back. According to coach Rex Ryan, No. 1 WR Santonio Holmes and No. 3 WR Jeremy Kerley will play against the Panthers on Sunday night in the Jets' third preseason game. Holmes has been sidelined with a rib cartilage injury that he suffered during the team's scrimmage three weeks ago, and Kerley has been dealing with a torn hamstring since the second day of training camp.

Kerley is excited to get back on the field and said Friday that QB Mark Sanchez will now have more options in the passing game. WR Patrick Turner (ankle) is expected to play, and WR Chaz Schilens (ankle) is expected to be out.

Injury update: RB Joe McKnight who had some shin soreness on Thursday will play. ... NT Sione Po'uha (back) and S Eric Smith (knee) remain out. ... CB Ellis Lankster (quad) and TE Jeff Cumberland (concussion) will also be out. ... S Yeremiah Bell and DL Mike DeVito have been added to the list. Bell has a problem with his knee, and DeVito is recovering from a pulled calf muscle he suffered in Friday's practice. "That's not good for a defensive lineman," Ryan said of DeVito's injury. Both will be game-time decisions on Sunday. If there's any hint that either is not 100 percent, they won't play.

Starting time: The Jets starters are expected to play into the third quarter on Sunday against the Panthers.
