Broncos coach John Fox will only be happy to see his players' names in the newspaper this weekend for one reason:
"I have an old saying: I don't want to read about you unless you win the lottery," Fox said. "We'll see. I'm hoping for the best."
Fox repeated those words to his team Wednesday as they finished their last practice until they reconvene at team headquarters next Monday.
"You know Coach Fox; he always has a couple of jokes," cornerback Chris Harris said. "Right now is not a good time to get in trouble by anybody, and we're trying to win a championship, and we definitely don't need (trouble) right now."
Plenty of players are leaving town. LB Wesley Woodyard said he's headed back to visit his college stomping grounds, the University of Kentucky. S Rahim Moore is headed to Los Angeles to see his family. RB Willis McGahee plans to fly to Miami to visit with his mother and grandmother.
But rookie DL Derek Wolfe, perhaps approaching the typical "rookie wall," didn't want to stray too far.
"I don't have the energy to get on a plane, to be honest," said.
