Report: Seahawks eye replacements for injured K Steven Hauschka
The Seahawks aren't just hurting at defensive end heading into Sunday's game in Atlanta.
Kicker Steven Hauschka injured his left calf on the FedEx Field grass, and an ESPN report says Ryan Longwell, Neil Rackers and others will try out for Seattle this week.
“Hauschka, he actually felt a little better today. He's got a calf strain that came up during the game,” coach Pete Carroll said Monday. “I don't know if you guys caught it, but his limping to the point of the kick the first time was just -- just broke your heart. It looked so sad because he couldn't run.”
Punter Jon Ryan took over kickoffs from Hauschka, who continued to handle placekicking with his planting leg taped. He made his three field-goal tries and an extra point in the 24-14 win. But none of the field goals was longer than 32 yards.
For the season, Hauschka is 27 of 30 on field-goal attempts.
Seattle lost defensive end Chris Clemons (11.5 sacks) in the third quarter with a torn ACL. Rookie Bruce Irvin is expected to start in place of Clemons.
The Seahawks, who have won six straight, are 2.5-point underdogs at top-seeded Atlanta.
