Jack Britt, the father of Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt, told a Nashville newspaper Tuesday that his son has nothing to hide regarding a pair of incidents early Sunday morning, and that reports that he has been uncooperative with police are "nonsense."

“Kenny is not running from anyone. He has nothing to hide,” Britt told The Tennessean on Tuesday. “He is fully cooperating and the police are saying a lot of things that just aren't true. They don't have all the facts. Kenny is going to clear this thing up.”

Police interest in Britt stems from two incidents early Sunday morning in New Jersey in which a man was stabbed and a gunshot was fired. As of Monday, Britt hadn't spoken with police. His father said that Britt would meet with police soon, and Jersey City Police Captain Edgar Martinez said that Britt had been uncooperative and hadn't made himself available. Martinez confirmed that he and Britt were set to meet Wednesday.

“Until he comes in, nothing has changed,” Martinez said, according to the paper. “Kenny Britt is a grown man. He needs to get here.”

Britt has been embroiled in numerous legal incidents, and this is just another added to the list. But his father maintains this is simply a wrong-place, wrong-time scenario.

“This was a night when Kenny was trying to be low key and stay out of trouble,'' Jack Britt told the paper. “Sometimes, it just seems like trouble follows him, coming from people in his past, unfortunately.”
