New York Jets linebacker Bryan Thomas will have charges of domestic assault and drug possession dismissed if he completes a pretrial intervention program, according to multiple reports.
Thomas was arrested in October and charged with assaulting his wife and possessing marijuana and hydrocodone, the New York Daily News reports.
Thomas must complete 100 hours of community service, pay $1,200 in fines and complete drug, alcohol and domestic violence counseling for the charges to be dismissed. The program lasts two years.
For what it's worth, Thomas' lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, says that Thomas and his wife are still together. Thomas refused to comment.
“I don't want to give the incident life,” Tacopina told the NYDN. “They're a couple, and, like any couple, they go through stresses.”
Thomas, 33, has been with the Jets since 2002, but he will become a free agent this offseason. He finished 2012 with 24 tackles and 2.5 sacks, appearing in 12 games.
