| Will Shonn Greene be a Jet next season? (USATSI) |
Impending free-agent running back Shonn Greene of the New York Jets is expected to draw interest from the top seeds in the 2012 playoffs, Denver and Atlanta, according to a report.
ESPN New York's Rich Cimini cited his “spies” at the NFL Combine for the information.
In Atlanta Greene could replace Michael Turner, who is expected to be released, and team with burner Jacquizz Rodgers. In Denver, Greene would join an unsettled backfield that currently includes Willis McGahee, Knowshon Moreno and Ronnie Hillman.
Greene, 27, averaged 3.9 yards a carry last season but set career highs with 1,063 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. When he's healthy, the 5-11, 226-pounder can wear down a defense.
CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora reported a month ago that the Jets' salary-cap situation will make them hard-pressed to keep Greene.
