The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed cornerback William Gay to a three-year deal, the team announced Monday. Gay was released by the Cardinals last week.
Gay is no stranger to Pittsburgh, having been chosen by the Steelers in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He spent five years in Pittsburgh and was a member of the 2008 team that won Super Bowl XLIII, starting three of eight postseason games during his time in Pittsburgh. In 37 total starts with the Steelers, Gay had 235 tackles, three interceptions, three sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
In Arizona in 2012, Gay made 15 starts, with 57 tackles and three forced fumbles. Gay's base salary with the Cardinals was $975,000 in 2012 before he was released.
Details of his contract with the Steelers have not been disclosed.
