Did the Seahawks just land the next Tony Gonzalez, Antonio Gates or Jimmy Graham?

His name is Darren Fells, and he's 6-foot-7, 280 pounds. Like Gates, he never played college football. Seattle gave Fells a three-year contract after merely seeing him work out Tuesday, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Fells, 26, played hoops at UC Irvine and has been playing international ball since college, most recently in Argentina. Fells was supposed to have a pro day sometime after the workout, but the Seahawks apparently saw everything they needed.

The video above shows Fells posting up opponents in Finland. Height and positioning are basketball "skills" that transfer well, as Gonzalez and Graham have demonstrated.

Fells is similar in stature to Graham (6-7, 265) and Rob Gronkowski (6-6, 265), and was an all-state tight end at Fullerton (Calif.) High School, according to Yahoo! Sports. The Seahawks' starting tight end is Zach Miller, who's not small at 6-5, 255.

Fells' older brother, Daniel, plays tight end for the Patriots.
