Cowboys take field vs. Bengals with heavy hearts
CINCINNATI -- It's hard to put football in perspective when a man had his life cut short way too young on Saturday morning, but that's the way NFL players react: The games go on.
[Follow the game: Cowboys-Bengals]
After Dallas Cowboys practice-squad player Jerry Brown was killed in an early-morning automobile crash, and with teammate Josh Brent in jail because he was driving and charged with being under the influence of alcohol, the Cowboys took the field on Sunday against the Bengals with heavy hearts.
During a moment of silence for Brown before the game, Cowboys players stood on the sideline, the emotion clear to see on their faces.
They were a hurting team, one of their own no longer with them in this life and another one probably never going to be on the field playing with them again.
But as we say after all these tragedies, the games go on.
Even with hearts filled with grief.
