Report: Joeckel told he won't be the Chiefs' pick at No. 1
While Eric Fisher at No. 1 to Kansas City isn't a sure thing yet, according to a report, the Chiefs won't be selecting Luke Joeckel at the top spot
The Kansas City Chiefs have informed Texas A&M offensive tackle Luke Joeckel that he will not be their selection with the No. 1 overall pick Thursday night, according to Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star Telegram.
Although there is no confirmation that Eric Fisher will be the pick, the Central Michigan left tackle is considered the favorite to be drafted at that top spot and be the newest member of the Chiefs. Kansas City has reportedly been attempting to shop the No. 1 overall pick, but if they stay put, Fisher is expected to be their guy.
"We are taking calls," Chiefs coach Andy Reid told the NFL Network earlier Thursday. "We do have the player we like in mind, and we're ready to roll with him and welcome him into ... Kansas City and help us become a better football team. But you do keep your ears open, and you listen to all the different options that are presented to you. But we feel pretty strong about the guy we have in mind."
