Osweiler's positive workout clouds QB picture

After sitting out the Combine and bypassing Arizona State's original pro day because of a foot injury, Brock Osweiler had his opportunity to work out for pro scouts on Friday. The junior ran the 40-yard dash twice and threw during a scripted passing session, reportedly looking good in both areas.
Osweiler ran his 40-yard dash in the mid-4.9s and showed off his quick feet during the passing drill, moving around with ease in the pocket. He completed 66-of-75 throws with most of his incompletions coming on passes over 30-plus yards. He displayed the arm strength to make all the NFL throws, but his accuracy during Friday's workout was described as "good, but far from great." Osweiler also showed a few tweaks in his technique and delivery, showing a more smooth, efficient throwing motion.
Seattle sent a strong contingent to the workout with head coach Pete Carroll, GM John Schneider and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell representing the Seahawks. Miami Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland was present, as well as quarterback coaches from the Browns and Cardinals.
Osweiler raised a few eyebrows when he decided to surpass his senior season in favor of the NFL Draft, but he cited the coaching change as one of the main factors in his decision. Opinions of his draft projection are all across the board from the late first round to the fourth round. NFLDraftScout.com currently ranks Osweiler as a third round prospect and the sixth available quarterback in this class.
Former Sun Devil receivers Gerell Robinson, Mike Willie and Aaron Pflugrad caught passes from Osweiler during the workout. All three are considered late round prospects or free agents.
Troubled linebacker Vontaze Burfict also ran 40-yard dashes on Friday, posting numbers in the mid-4.8s -- not great times, but considerably better than his 5.03 at the Combine.
