Miami's top-ranked NFL prospect, senior safety Ray-Ray Armstrong, was dismissed from the team by coach Al Golden.
Identified as the No. 1 pro prospect on the Hurricanes' roster in NFLDraftScout.com's offseason series, Armstrong reportedly had contact with a booster and posted details of the interaction via Twitter.
Armstrong, the No. 4-ranked NFL prospect at his position according to NFLDraftScout.com, was a second-team All-ACC selection last season.
He was named to the Bednarik Award watch list on July 10.
Rumors circulated on July 2 that Armstrong and Seantrel Henderson were dismissed from the team, but UM associate athletic director for communications Chris Freet denied the reports.
Armstrong is a former five-star recruit but Golden hasn't been patient with players who run afoul of his discipline policy.
Armstrong missed the NFL supplemental draft and his timing likely limits options to transfer -- and play this season -- to mid-level FCS programs.
