2013 NFL Combine: Florida State's Jenkins eager to prove health

By Rob Rang | The Sports Xchange/CBSSports.com

With 21 1/2 sacks over the 2010-11 seasons, Florida State's Brandon Jenkins entered 2012 with the production and buzz of a first-round prospect.

He suffered a Lisfranc injury in the Seminoles' season-opening victory over Murray State, however, and with the 2013 draft class boasting several highly-regarded pass-rushers (including two former teammates in Bjoern Werner and Cornellius "Tank" Carradine), Jenkins has slipped a bit off the radar.

Despite playing less than one game, Jenkins elected to leave FSU early for the 2013 draft.

He hopes to show off his athleticism by performing in positional drills in Indianapolis.

Jenkins, who measured in at 6-foot-2 (1/2) and 251 pounds after playing as high as 270 as a defensive end at Florida State, projects best as a stand-up rush linebacker due to his explosive burst off the snap.

He told NFLDraftScout.com that he's going to work out as a linebacker and will also work out as a defensive lineman if asked to do so. While possessing an impressive burst upfield, Jenkins is a bit stiff in his upper body, limiting his ability to change directions quickly. He's worked on his flexibility and feels comfortable dropping due to his time playing linebacker in high school.

Jenkins is confident he'll impress scouts with his movement in position drills but is waiting until Florida State's Pro Day on March 19 to do the timed drills.
