Injuries knocked Auburn pass rusher Dee Ford and Notre Dame defensive tackle Stephon Tuitt out of Monday's defensive line workouts at the scouting combine on Monday.

Tuitt has a hairline fracture in his foot and a recovery time of up to eight weeks means he won't likely be at Notre Dame's pro day.

All is not lost for Tuitt. He melted more than 25 pounds off his frame before the combine and measured 6-feet-5¾, 306 pounds and threw up 31 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. With 34¾-inch arms, the number of reps is considered stellar.

Tuitt will likely perform at a private workout in April, benefiting from the extra two weeks in the 2014 draft season before the first-ever May draft. At 20 years old with his measurables, the first round is still very much a reality.

Ford plans to work out and "do everything" at his March 4 pro day at Auburn.

"Right before the bench yesterday, I'm warming up and they came and got me and said I'm medically excluded from working out," Ford said Monday in an NFL Network interview, confirming the concern stems from a 2011 back surgery. "It's a medical precaution."

Extensive medical exams showed a possible concern stemming from the surgery for a herniated disc in his back. Ford told NFL Network's Steve Wyche he was told there is no reason for concern long-term.
