04/28/2009 - A closer look at the Titans' picks: Round 1/30 -- Kenny Britt, WR, 6-3, 215, Rutgers...With virtually no depth behind starters Nate Washington and Justin Gage, the Titans took the plunge and drafted Britt. Sitting at pick No. 30, they hoped to land either Britt or Hakeem Nicks, who went one pick earlier to the New York Giants. Britt gives the Titans a potential big-play receiver, something missing from the offense for at least five years.

04/28/2009 - The Titans were reported and rumored to be in the Anquan Boldin sweepstakes that never materialized. An ESPN report of the Titans offering a player and a second-round pick for Boldin was retracted by the network's website. Coach Jeff Fisher addressed the situation shortly after the Titans drafted Kenny Britt with their first pick. "Let me clarify things, there was a lot of speculation and a lot of reports yesterday evening ... and we never at any time made an offer to the Arizona Cardinals," Fisher said. "We left several messages with them last night, but they never returned our calls last night. We didn't get in touch with them until before the draft today and they said they weren't interested in moving him."

      Overview

Britt decided three years in Piscataway was enough after a junior season that saw him become the conference's all-time leading receiver (3,043 yards). The third-team Associated Press All-American and first-team All-Big East pick helped the Knights win seven consecutive games to end the 2008 season, concluding with the Papajohns.com Bowl win in which he made six catches for 119 yards and the go-ahead score. Despite a lack of straight-line speed and a history of dropped passes, Britt's size and toughness put him among the top receiver prospects in this draft.
