03/04/2010 - Naaman Roosevelt strutted around the Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse on Wednesday like a boxer anxiously awaiting the opening round. NFL scouts from all over the nation scrawled his name on their notepads and pointed their stopwatches in his direction but for the most part, Roosevelt seemed oblivious to it all. He wasn't the only attraction for the approximately 16 NFL representatives, but Roosevelt was certainly one of the main ones during the University at Buffalo's annual Pro Day, as he and the other former Bulls got the opportunity to improve their draft stock. Roosevelt, the former St. Joe's quarterback, didn't disappoint, running the 40-yard dash in 4.59, an impressive time for a wide receiver. He wouldn't speculate whether it was good enough to sway a team to pick him early in the draft but he felt good about his performance. "I tried to give it my best and I prepared well over the last two months," Roosevelt said. "I tried to come out here and do what I had to do, and I think I did well for the most part. There's nothing to be nervous or scared about, it's about coming out here and playing football." He also displayed a 36-inch vertical leap, proving he has the athleticism to play the position. He also pushed out 12 reps on the bench press at 225 pounds. "He showed that he made some improvement," said Juan Taylor, UB's wide receivers-passing game coordinator. "There's no doubt that he can run faster. He's a football player, this is not his forte being a track guy. He's a football player. When the ball is in the air, he's going to outrun the next guy to get to it and he's going to make a play." - Rodney McKissic, Buffalo News
