03/21/2012 - A couple of hours after his North Carolina teammates wrapped up their pro day at the Tar Heels' practice facility, Dwight Jones sat in a golf cart at East Chapel Hill High's football field, fiddling with his cell phone and waiting for NFL scouts to show up for his personal workout. While 200 students filed into the aluminum bleachers to spend seventh period watching the workout, Jones and his group of agents, family members and friends spent an hour hoping one of the scouts from the UNC pro day would make the 10-minute trip to East Chapel Hill High. Finally, one did - Nick Schiralli, an area scout for the Denver Broncos. With that, Jones' personal pro day could commence. Jones, a mid-round receiver prospect, was banned from UNC's pro day for his involvement in a New Year's Eve party in his hometown of Burlington, N.C. In December, UNC declared Jones ineligible for the Independence Bowl for allowing his name and photo to be used for the party. Fliers for the party, dubbed the "1st Annual Dwight Jones New Years Birthday Celebration," featured $20 bills and promised free admission to the "first 24 ladies" through the door and "24 free shots every hour on the hour." Working with the NCAA, UNC reinstated Jones for the bowl game - a 41-24 loss to Missouri - on the agreement Jones would cancel the party. Jones played in the game, catching six passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. But after the game, the flier was re-posted on Jones' Facebook page and the party was held as planned. Jones said Tuesday he did not attend the party, but was out with friends celebrating his birthday. "My collegiate career was over. I didn't break any rules when I was in school," he said. "I never got in any trouble with arrests or suspensions." - Joseph Person, Bradenton Herald

    Analysis
Positives: Has the size, length, and strength to defeat press jams. Can make the spectacular catch. Decent open-field runner with some agility and ability to break tackles. Has good top speed and rarely is caught from behind once top speed is achieved. Uses huge frame and long arms to deliver quality, powerful blocks on defensive backs. Negatives: Comes off the snap high and upright, and doesn't get to top speed quickly. Not sudden or elusive. Inconsistent catching the ball. Overall, his hands could be better with improved consistency and technique. Has difficulty making sharp cuts. Not fast out of breaks, and will round turns. Blocking effort and technique can be inconsistent.
