04/30/2012 - A closer look at the Buccaneers' picks: Round 7/233 - Drake Dunsmore, TE/FB, 6-3, 235, Northwestern...Dunsmore was the tight end of the year in the Big 10. Finished his career with 14 touchdown catches and was the team's second-leading receiver last year. - The Sports Xchange
Strengths: Versatile player, lining up as the "Superback" in the Northwestern offense (hybrid TE/FB/WR). Experience lining up all over the offense and isn't restricted anywhere, serving as an all-purpose player. Soft hands with good body control and hand-eye coordination. Not easy to bring down after the catch and has good core strength. Good-enough route runner with good awareness and balance along the sideline. Tough blocker with physical, aggressive attitude, playing through injuries. Works hard to improve his game and gives everything he has on the field. Consistent production the past three seasons.
Weaknesses: Tweener skill-set and plays more of a bulky wide receiver, lacking a natural position at the next level. Very average athletically across the board. Doesn't have the speed to blow by linebackers or safeties in the pros, taking too long to accelerate after gearing down. Lean limbs and lacks ideal muscle to match with his aggressive nature. Plays a bit stiff and lacks the body fluidity to contort his frame to make difficult catches. More of a possession target and doesn't have the foot quickness to make defenders miss after the catch.
