Positives: Naturally large, strong athlete with very good weight room strength. Flashes the ability knock interior offensive linemen into the backfield with a powerful bull rush. Stout. When he keeps his pad level low, he can create a pile inside to clog running lanes. Good effort laterally. Strong, heavy hands which he uses well to knock away the initial jabs from his opponents. Showed better awareness in the passing game as a senior, getting his big paws up in the air to narrow passing lanes and blocked a kick... Voted a team captain in 2011.
Negatives: Limited athlete. Slow off the snap and though he'll give effort in pursuit, has only phone-booth quickness and is easily left behind. Doesn't have the burst or flexibility to "get skinny" and attacks gaps, providing little as a pass rusher despite some unique talent around him at South Carolina... Has twice suffered torn ACLs (2005, 2009)...
