04/30/2012 - A closer look at the Colts picks: 7/214 - Tim Fugger, DE, 6-3, 248, Vanderbilt...A late-bloomer who is expected to make the transition to standup linebacker. Impressed during on-campus Pro Day workout. - The Sports Xchange
Strengths: Always plays at full-go with a relentless motor and his hair on fire. Doesn't quit and works through the whistle. Works well off contact and does a nice job shielding blockers hands to get into their bodies. Active hands and arms to rip and go, showing improved counter moves. Heady player with good awareness to sniff out plays and make tackles in pursuit. Hustle rusher who will be able to contribute on special teams coverage. Strong practice habits and will make it tough for a pro team to cut him. Three-year starter with some versatility to fill different roles.
Weaknesses: More of a straight-line runner and lacks the fluidity to stop on a dime and redirect. Plays high and needs to show more consistent pad level. Tightly wound and needs to show better bend. Gets tied up too often and struggles to disengage, relying on his upper body strength to get him out of trouble. Has tweener traits and won't be a fit for every defense. Takes a few moments to gear down and change directions, lacking natural burst element to his game. Very average production and his statistics aren't overly impressive.
