04/30/2012 - A closer look at the Colts picks: 6/206 - LaVon Brazill, WR, 5-11, 191, Ohio...Brazill will most likely get a long look on special teams first but could also contribute offensively. - The Sports Xchange
Strengths: Balanced athlete with quick feet and initial burst. Flexible body type to avoid tackles. Has smooth acceleration and speed with fluid footwork to stay sharp in and out of his breaks. Very good body control to adjust his frame and is a natural hands catcher with the ballskills to track the ball and go get it. Good focus to be a reliable target. Shows patience and vision to tear through defenses with the coordination to slip through contact. Extremely tough and is a team-first captain. Adds value as a return man with 4 career scores on punt returns. Holds almost every school single season and career receiving record.
Weaknesses: Only average height and length with a slender frame. Lean, lanky build with very little bulk. More of a straight-line runner who won't be able to make defenders miss in tight areas. Not naturally explosive and has a bad habit of dancing too much, especially on returns. Needs to be more precise as a route runner, tending to round off some of his patterns. Freelances too much in tight coverage. Usually sure-handed, but can be inconsistent with throws away from his frame. Doesn't show the same competitive nature on every snap and will take some plays off. Strong durability concerns after missing all of 2010 and tearing his meniscus late in the 2011 season. He is still a bit raw and didn't face top competition each week.
