01/09/2012 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: WR Marquis Maze was a warrior in the first meeting with six catches for 61 yards, but has had to live with an underthrown pass on a gadget play that resulted in an interception near the goal line when the game was tied at 6-6. Maze has to try to find a way to shake free of CBs Tyrann Mathieu and Morris Claiborne, as well as produce a field-flipping play with a kick return that could give the offense a much-needed boost. - The Sports Xchange
Positives: Veteran qualities to set up and sell inside and outside moves. He couples these quick movements with arm over swims to create separation and a free release. Maze understands his size limitations, so he sits in soft zones between the corner and safety while slightly working his way back to the QB. Has a thickly built frame, short-area explosion and straight-line speed after the catch.
Negatives: Maze's natural frame is his biggest limitation. It makes it tough to come down with catches in traffic, fight off the jam, create separation at the top of routes against physical corners and block effectively. Routes lack technique and tend to look very erratic thanks to extra steps. Maze is currently bound to quick patterns, sitting in soft zones, and vertical routes. Will face plenty of DBs who are bigger and stronger. He was not a very productive player in college.
