  • Overview
One of twelve finalists for "Mr. Football" in Indiana, he was rated as the second-best prospects in the state by Rivals.com. And it was little surprise Cave chose Notre Dame considering he was named after former Irish player Braxston Banks.

Cave took a medical redshirt in 2008 after suffering a season-ending injury following five special-teams apperances. He played in all 13 games the following season, primarily on special teams.

Cave took over the starting job in 2010 and was one of three linemen to start all 13 games while logging 836 snaps - the most on Notre Dame's offense. He was named to the Rimington Trophy Warch List before his redshirt junior season, and started the first nine games before suffering a season-ending foot injury.

He returned strong in 2012, starting all 13 games during the Irish's run to the BCS title game.

    Analysis
POSITIVES: Anchor of Notre Dame's offensive line in 2012. Tough and strong at the point of attack with good base strength and balance in his stance. Works hard to gain body position to create run lanes. Shows good awareness to pick up the blitz and is known as a smart, heady player. Has a lot of experience on his resume with 35 career starts for the Irish. Not an explosive blocker, but a smooth mover who blocks with leverage and stays steady.

NEGATIVES: Choppy footwork and average foot quickness are exposed in space. Spends too much time on the ground with slower than ideal hands. Type of prospect who leaves you wanting more, lacking a consistent nasty demeanor. Struggled to sustain blocks during practices at the Senior Bowl, playing tight and lacking the athleticism to recover. He needs to be more aggressive with his hands and stay balanced in his stance to control defenders and not overextend himself. Had 2011 season cut short due to a foot injury that sidelined him until the 2012 season opener.
