Player Overview

Bolser was named honorable mention All-Big Ten as a senior and a semifinalist for the John Mackey Award after catching 35 passes for 320 yards and six touchdowns. That came on the heels of a 2012 season in which he finished fourth on the team with 41 catches for 445 yards and three touchdowns.

He leaves as Indiana's all-time leader among tight ends with 117 career receptions for 1,337 yards and 15 touchdowns. He became the 20th Hoosier to reach 100 catches and 1,000 yards and finished tied for eighth in TDs, 15th in receptions and 23rd in yardage on IU's career lists. Bolser played in 48 games and started 37 times. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree in public

Bolser did not earn an invitation to the Scouting Combine, but did work out at Indiana's pro day, where he was timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.71 seconds and lifted the 225-pound bench press 19 times.

Bolser was a versatile player for Indiana, lining up in the backfield, inline and flexed out as a receiver with a chip on his shoulder as a blocker - stiffer version of Gary Barnidge.

Strengths Weaknesses

STRENGTHS: Nice job getting to the perimeter and eliminating defenders in the open field...blocks w/ a chip...smooth release off the LOS...good height and overall frame - room to add bulk and get stronger...always looking for someone to block...good extension to pluck...good toughness and sells out each play...covers up the ball and toughs out yards...improved route runner...has a little after the catch acceleration...looks the ball in to secure catches...versatile, lining up inline, backfield and slot...

WEAKNESSES: False start...needs to square up and stay balanced in space to finish blocks...plays too high and lacks natural bend...rigid in his movements...needs to improve his vision and blocking angles...needs to use better body position as a blocker...needs to get stronger and bulk up...struggles to control defenders with his hands...want to see more knee bend to stay low as both a receiver and blocker...stiffer version of Gary Barnidge.

05/11/2014 - A closer look at the Redskins' picks: Round 7/217 -- Ted Bolser, TE, 6-5, 257, Indiana...Set Indiana's career tight end records with 117 catches, 1,337 yards and 15 touchdowns. Has size but doesn't move well. High school receiver could be a better blocker but is a force covering kicks. - The Sports Xchange
