Strengths Weaknesses

Excellent size for the position. Showed excellent determination in returning from season-opening broken ankle in 2013 to play by November when most expected he would seek a medical redshirt. Relishes the underdog role despite coming from a smaller program. Credited with a 4.70-second 40-yard dash at his March 5 pro day, which more resembles NFL fullbacks than running backs.

Player Overview

Tipton slid under the radar for two reasons - first, he played for Central Michigan. Second, he broke his ankle in the season opener in 2013 and wasn't able to return until November.

When Tipton returned, he rushed for 398 yards on 74 attempts - averaging 5.4 yards per carry and scoring eight touchdowns.

That come on the heels of a 20-touchdown junior season in which Tipton rushed for nearly 1,500 yards.

Tipton got back on the radar of many NFL scouts with a strong showing at his pro day.

?I would say it was a good day,? Tipton told The Morning Call. ?I came out, ran some good times, and impressed a lot of people. I was mostly just trying to have fun for the last time with my boys. At the same time, I wanted to show the scouts what I can do.?

One of the reasons Tipton worked to return for the final four games of his senior season is he has already earned his degree and had decided he would not seek another year of eligibility.

?Leaving it is kind of hard, but you knew the day was coming," he told the Morning Call. "You don?t sign 10-year deals in college. After four years, you have to be expecting that day. I had a great time here and it?s always sad to see something go. I had already graduated from school and to be honest, it was kind of a done deal knowing I wasn?t going to come back and finish my Master?s degree and stuff like that. I got my degree and that is the first goal when you come to college. Goal accomplished and I still stand behind my decision.?
