Ramsey started his first three games as a sophomore and then led the Eagles' defensive linemen with 39 tackles in 2010. However, he played in just two games the following season due to a left foot injury. He again played in two games in 2012 before sitting out the rest of the campaign due to injury.
Ramsey returned last season to start eight of 10 games, finishing with 28 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. However, he was not able to participate at the Scouting Combine or his pro day due to a right calf injury.
STRENGTHS: High school basketball player is a good sized athlete, and can line up at multiple spots along the defensive line. A load to handle off the snap. Moves well for his size. Strong tackler who benched 225 pounds 36 times at the combine, topping the position.
WEAKNESSES: Strong durability concerns - dealt with significant leg, shoulder, foot and calf injuries during six college seasons. Doesn't almost rush the pocket with a plan and needs to play smarter and display better instinct. Too easily allows himself to get tied up with single blockers.
05/12/2014 - A closer look at the 49ers' picks: Round 7/243 -- Kaleb Ramsey, DE, 6-3, 293, Boston College...Ramsey is a player the 49ers have evaluated for three-straight drafts, but injuries have prevented him from leaving school. He can play all over the defensive line and posted 36 reps on the bench press at the scouting combine. If he stays healthy, he could be a developmental player on the practice squad with a chance to make the roster in future seasons. - The Sports Xchange
