04/29/2012 - A closer look at the Bears' picks: Round 6/184 - Isaiah Frey, CB, 5-11, 188, Nevada...Had five interceptions and a national-best 21 pass breakups as a senior. Three-year starter. Does not play a physical game and has unrefined footwork. Has good closing speed but gives too much cushion in coverage. Solid 40-yard dash time (4.46) at pro day. - The Sports Xchange
Strengths: Active and productive, keeping his head on a swivel and looks for the big play. Good straight-line speed with the foot agility to quickly get to full speed and track the play. Aggressive and physical, doesn't shy from contact. Scrappy and won't back down, playing bigger than he appears. Productive as a three-year starter. Led the WAC in passes defended in 2011 (21), second in interceptions (5). Vocal leader, confident and rallies the troops. Battle-tested.
Weaknesses: Very average size and length, will be outmuscled by NFL receivers. Plays stiff and lacks the body fluidity to easily transition, getting tied up with his lower half. Choppy footwork and lacks the ankle flexion to smoothly change directions in a flash. Too physical and will attract penalties with his aggressive cover style. Needs to improve tackling technique to wrap, secure and finish. Instincts seem to be hit or miss, which is an indication that he guesses and takes too many chances.
