07/16/2011 - RIMINGTON TROPHY PRESEASON WATCH LIST: Scott Wedige, Northern Illinois, has been named one of 43 players selected to the 2011 Preseason Rimington Trophy Watch List, given annually to the the Most Outstanding Center in NCAA Division I-A College Football. Wedige anchored the Northern Illinois offensive line from his center position in his first season as a starter a year ago and helped lead the way to Chad Spann's record-breaking touchdown-scoring campaign. The Huskies offense led the MAC in total offense a year ago and NIU's per carry rushing average of 6.3 (by all rushers) led the country. A first-team All-MAC player, Wedige was named to the Rimington Award Watch List for the top center in the country in May. - Northern Illinois football
