Player Overview

Bayer was named third-team All-MAC for the second consecutive season as a senior and leaves Bowling Green having started 36 consecutive games. He caught 27 passes in 2013, tied for second on the team, while averaging 15.3 yards per reception during the regular season.

Bayer's most productive season came as a junior, when he caught 36 passes for 410 yards and three touchdowns.

While he didn't earn an invitation to the scouting combine, Bayer did participate in the East-West Shrine Game. He was the first Falcon to play in the game since Freddie Barnes in 2010.

Twenty-two NFL teams were on-hand for Bowling Green's March 12 pro day, where Bayer was credited with a 4.77 and 4.78 in the 40-yard dash while posting a 31 1/2-inch vertical, 9'3" broad jump, 4.42-second short shuttle and 7.26 seconds in the 3-cone drill. He reportedly met with the Buccaneers the following day.

Strengths Weaknesses

STRENGTHS: Excellent frame for the position, which he can use to his advantage to move the chains in short-yardage situations. Team captain. Experienced; three-year starter.

WEAKNESSES: Level of competition concerns - will he be able to shed blocks at the line and gain separation against NFL linebackers and defensive backs? Lacks quick acceleration off the line and doesn't offer much as a runner after the catch.
