Strengths Weaknesses

STRENGTHS: Wide-hipped with thick legs and upper body girth?extremely long arms and covers a large area with his engulfing wingspan and easy coil?keeps his hands inside and stays coordinated through contact?natural footwork and athleticism, showing balanced lateral shuffle?can get to the second level and carries his weight well.

Good recognition skills to quickly locate and adjust on the fly ? improved vision to see extra rushers?raw finishing ability and competitive drive are present in his blocking style?shows an understanding of body angles and how to manipulate space with his positioning?durable four-year starter (43 career starts) with reliable football character, earning All-OVC honors three straight years.

WEAKNESSES: Needs to keep his pounds in check and keep off the bad weight ? fluctuation was an issue in college and conditioning needs monitored?needs to show consistent knee bend to improve his base strength, keeping his belt low to the ground?rigid COD skills and body control?struggles to consistently generate movement off the snap and needs to pack more ammo into his hands.

Streaky instincts with a bad habit of getting sloppy, allowing the fundamentals to break down once the bullets start flying?needs to add more glass to his diet and play with the same temperament from snap-to-snap?starred at a lower level of competition (FCS), lacking ideal experience.

Player Overview

Not highly recruited out of high school, Edwards went the FCS and chose Tennessee State over an FBS offer from New Mexico State. He redshirted in 2009 before becoming the starting LG in 2010.

Edwards started 34 games the past three seasons, earning All-OVC honors each year. He has the natural girth and muscle build that translates well to the next level, but he needs to keep the messy weight down ? listed weight fluctuated between 310 and 340 during his college years. Edwards looks the part, but isn?t overwhelming in the run game and won?t redirect defenders or control at the POA.

He has workable skills and it won?t always look pretty, but he works hard to impeded rushers and won?t quit ? developmental late round prospect who needs to be coached up before he?s ready for meaningful NFL snaps.
