01/02/2012 - Scouting the Wisconsin pass defense: Wisconsin's pass defense is something that Oregon might look to exploit. Sure, Wisconsin's numbers are inflated somewhat due to several blowouts, forcing opponents to spend most of the game passing the ball in hopes of mounting a comeback. Wisconsin was able to hold down its numbers, allowing just 144.5 yards passing per game. The Badgers have dealt with injuries along the defensive line and secondary, affecting chemistry and leading to several backups playing key roles. But the Badgers have stopped teams from putting up big numbers due to a solid linebacker corps and deep roster. Oregon's speed on offense and athleticism might be the toughest test for Wisconsin's defense. The Badgers did a great job limiting Northern Illinois' high-octane offense earlier this season, but Oregon's blend of experience and talent equals one of the best offensives in the country. But Wisconsin had trouble stopping Michigan State's group of speedy receivers in both games, something that could forecast a long day for UW's defense against the Ducks. - The Sports Xchange
