- Solomon Patton and his parents decided they were probably equally excited when the Florida wide receiver was invited on Tuesday to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl, because it'd be hard to top the excitement level each of them felt. For Patton, the Senior Bowl will be a homecoming game because he was a standout in football and track at Murphy High School. "I was pretty excited. They were excited. Everybody was excited," Patton said. "We had been waiting, and I finally got that call Tuesday night, so I called them even though I think it was about 11 o'clock at night." Solomon Sr. and Stefanye Patton didn't mind. "It's going to be great," dad said of seeing their son play in the Senior Bowl. "It's something we've dreamed about since he started playing football. It's always been a dream of ours and his for him to make it back here."
Patton has a roster size of 5-foot-9 and 169 pounds. He said he understands that could be a mark against him in the eyes of the NFL talent evaluators. "A lot of people look at my size," Patton said. "Hopefully, the game last week made them look at that totally differently. I showed them I might be small, but I can make big-time plays regardless of my size. I'm just going to go in relaxed and do what I've been doing all year." - Mark Inabinett, Alabama Live
