Strengths Weaknesses

STRENGTHS: Good-sized athlete with wiry bulk on his sturdy frame. Long limbed and uses his body well. Uses his strong hands to extend, attack and pluck the ball out of the air, using his large mitts to secure through the process.

Highpoints well with timing, body control and aggressiveness. Physical finisher in contested situations to win in 50/50 situations. Adjusts quickly (high or low) and tracks well with quick eyes and reflexes.

Adequate release off the line of scrimmage to get into his routes quickly, finding soft spots in zones and showing his numbers to the quarterback. Good sideline awareness to toe tap and show field sense. Not shy about the blocking responsibilities at the position, using angles and strong-willed attitude.

Led the Huskies in receiving the last three seasons, serving as senior captain in 2014. Most productive receiver in school history since the Huskies moved to the FBS level in 2000.

WEAKNESSES: Lacks ideal speed and too leggy in his routes, getting too upright and taking wasted steps in his patterns. Doesn't show much fluidity or burst in his breaks, lacking sudden footwork to consistently fool defenders or create consistent separation.

Forced to gear down at the top of routes and takes a few steps to get back up to full speed, allowing defenders to adjust. Can be out-muscled down the field and needs to more consistently gain proper body position as a route runner. Won't go down easy as a ballcarrier, but limited after the catch and some linebackers will catch him from behind.

Never earned All-Conference honors and his production dropped as a senior. Some durability concerns after missing two games in 2014 due to a foot injury.

Player Overview

Davis put himself on the NFL radar after his 1,000-yard receiving season in 2013, overcoming streaky quarterback play, but his senior season was a different story as he struggled to match his junior year production.

Davis has limited speed before and after the catch and will struggle to create much separation, but he is a strong athlete at the catch point, playing like a power forward to locate, attack and finish with his hands. Although he isn't much of a threat as a ballcarrier, Davis is an intriguing possession target as a No. 4/5 NFL receiver and late-round version of West Virginia's Kevin White.

After redshirting in 2010, Davis saw reserve action as a freshman in 2011 before becoming a starter in 2012 as a sophomore, leading the Huskies with 44 catches for 613 yards and one score.

Davis had his best statistical season in 2013 as a junior and finished among the conference leaders with 1,085 receiving yards on 71 receptions and three touchdowns, the first 1,000-yard receiver at Connecticut since 1998. His production dipped as a senior in 2014 due to inconsistent quarterback play and injury (foot), finishing with a team-best 44 receptions for 521 yards and three touchdowns.
