Player Overview

After redshirting in 2010, Mueller played on special teams and in mop-up duty as a freshman and sophomore before becoming a full-time starter as a junior. Except he didn't just become just a starter, he emerged as the Wildcats' defensive playmaker with 18.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks and four forced fumbles, earning Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year and numerous other All-American awards.

Strengths Weaknesses

STRENGTHS: Well-built throughout for his body type. Quick and low out of his stance to shoot gaps and disrupt the backfield, using relentless pursuit and a tremendous competitive nature to finish plays.

Displays a strong understanding of leverage and angles with a flexible lower body and powerful hands to finish tackles. Routinely plays alert, well-prepared and assignment sound, reading the run well and containing the edge.

Better change of direction abilities than expected and looks comfortable on his feet, leading many to believe his future might be at linebacker in the NFL. Exhibits a tremendous competitive nature and relentless pursuit with excellent recovery quickness, playing fast and controlled nonstop.

WEAKNESSES: Lack of ideal height and length shows up on tape and his functional strength is average-at-best, allowing for him to be easily engulfed on the edges. Not a quick-twitch mover.

COMPARES TO: Tedy Bruschi, ex-Patriots -- Mueller is lacking in a few areas, but he has some similar characteristics as Bruschi, who lined up on the defensive line in college before successfully making the transition to a stand up linebacker spot in the NFL.
