Strengths Weaknesses

STRENGTHS: Fluid punting motion to drive the ball off his foot with natural power. Good timing and technique and something he has clearly improved over the years. Became first Australian to win the Ray Guy Award and steadily improved his yard per punt averages the last four years. Model of consistency and works hard to hone his craft. Tough and durable.WEAKNESSES: Will be an older NFL rookie (25 years old). Didn?t start playing American football until his senior year in high school. Needs to work on his directional punting to better control the momentum and path of his punts.

Player Overview

A native of Australia, Hornsey received the 2013 Ray Guy Award and First Team All-American honors, averaging 45.2 yards per punt as a senior. He started all four seasons at Memphis and averaged 43.2 yards per punt over his career, ranking in the top-10 among active punters in career average. Hornsey holds the Memphis career records for punts (297) and punting yards (12,815) and allowed just 12 touchbacks on punts over his career. He played Australian Rules Football as a prep player, but spent a full season training to transition to American punting rules.
