Player Overview

Manton twice earned All-Sun Belt honors as a punter and kicker, although the focus of his preparation for the Scouting Combine was primarily on punting. That came on the heels of the Senior Bowl, where he served as the South team?s punter and kicker, connecting on 2 of 3 field-goal attempts and dropping two of his three punts inside the 20-yard line while booming a third 62 yards.

Manton was 20-for-24 on field-goal attempts as a senior with a long of 51 yards (twice). He was also perfect on 23 extra-point attempts and punted 76 times for 3,222 yards (42.4-yard average) with a long of 67 yards. He placed 16 punts inside the 20 and 18 others were fair caught.

Manton has the potential to be the highest selected specialist since the Eagles spent a fourth-round pick (120th overall) on Alex Henery in 2011.

Strengths Weaknesses

STRENGTHS: Manton can punt, place-kick and kick off. Very good all-around athlete with good size. Terrific leg strength in both kicking and punting, and displays a fluid and effortless kicking motion. Master of his craft and improved every season. Connected in consecutive games on 51-yard field goals his senior season. Has shown good height on kickoffs to allow the coverage unit time to get into position.

WEAKNESSES: Despite his ability to boot the football, Manton was only 3-for-6 from 40-plys yards the past two seasons, including 3 of 5 as a senior. He was 11 of 15 from 30-plus yards as a junior. Could improve his directional kicking on kickoffs.
