Thompson is well traveled, having been born in Naples, Italy before moveting to England, Georgia and then to San Antonio in 2002.

A two-time first-team all-area player at Steven High School, he was rated as the 60th best athlete in the naiton by ESPNU.

Thompson saw action in all 13 games as a freshman, posting eight special teams tackles. He started six of 13 games the following year, and continued to show off his special teams prowess, blocking two punts.

Thompson started 12 of 13 games at free safety in 2013, ranking sixth on the team with 72 tackles. He started all 13 games as a senior, moving between safety and nickel cornerback, again ranking seventh on the team with 69 tackles.

Good size at 6-1, 200, but lacks elite timed speed. Experience at free safety and cornerback, which could make him a valuable versatile sub at the next level. Likly will need to earn roster spot through special teams play (three career blocks). Started 31 games and played in 52 at Texas, appearing in every game over four seasons.
